I’m very excited to be taking part in Techorama NL again. Techorama is a great event because of how it brings together developers, architects and other IT pros under a single roof. Having everyone together is so important because as we bring all the disciplines together through a DevOps process, it helps that we can speak a common language from a common set of understanding. That’s where Techorama shines, providing that mechanism of sharing a common language.
My sessions at Techorama this year reflect that same urge to share a common understanding of the
problems we face as developers and IT pros. First, I’m talking about SQL Injection. While the problem
space and solution for SQL Injection has been well understood for over twenty years, we still suffer from the issue. I’m going to explain what it is and how we can stop it.
My next session is one that is very near and dear to my passions, as well as vitally important, Convincing your DBA to Support DevOps. You developers have spent the last 15 years or so working on automating your deployments, testing, validation and all the rest. Meanwhile, DBAs have lagged in this area (although, we’ve been doing some other great work, I assure you). Now it’s time to get the DBAs on board with this whole DevOps thing. I’m going to give you an understanding of what goes on inside a DBAs head. I’m also going to provide language and process suggestions that will enable you to convince your DBA that DevOps isn’t just good for you. Instead, DevOps is a fundamental aspect of your DB providing better protection and compliance for the systems they manage. Through DevOps your DBA can ensure a better, more compliant, faster, safer, deployment process that adds to the protection of their production systems. If you get that message firmly planted into their minds, you’ll be automating database deployments just as fast as you do all your other deployments.
Speaking of database deployments, my final session is called Team Driven Database Development with Redgate Software. Here, I’m going to show you how Redgate and our wonderful set of tools can actively support you and your DBA team in achieving DevOps. We’ve been working on the database deployment challenge for 20 years and we’ve frankly become quite good at it. Want to know how to improve the safety of your production systems, while maintaining compliance, and still deliver more functionality faster? Then you don’t want to miss this session where I can show off all that Redgate can do in support of your team and the processes necessary to better support it.
This set of presentations, along with all the other excellent presentations, is unique to the Techorama experience. Because so much effort has been put into covering a broader scope of the IT problem space within Techorama, you get a superior spectrum of solutions being offered. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity. Sign up for Techorama today.
